I have a great idea. Why don’t we all take our personal sense of power and give it away to someone else? We wouldn’t need to be responsible for our lives if we blamed our parents, employers, the government, etc for how things “turn out”.
While we’re at it, we could create the ultimate back- up plan to relinquish our power and not be responsible for ourselves. Let’s play a game called, God, The Universe, My Higher Self, Consciousness, etc is separate from me and it’s up to that separate thing as to whether or not I will live a powerful life.
When all else fails, we can place blame on “that greater thing that’s separate from me”. Whew! Now I can kick back and focus on being a victim in peace. It’s not my fault – God did it. I guess the Universe just wants me to be kicked in the butt today.
What if we’ve been going about this all wrong? Okay, not wrong, but not in the most fun and empowering way. Is it possible that we’re not separate from _________ (fill in the blank)? This idea has boggled the minds of countless philosophers. Could we actually be Divinity?
It doesn’t seem possible to process this concept with our human minds. I believe most things in this world are a paradox – spirituality being a major one. It could be said there are almost 7 billion interpretations of what God is and the number is growing every day. Many of these people beLIEve they have the “Truth”. How’s that for a paradox?!
What if – hold onto your britches – we aren’t separate from God? What if we are God? Breathe.
Take a look at the ocean. It’s composed of, let’s say, billions of drops of water. Is the ocean the creator of the drops of water? Or did the drops of water create the ocean? The ocean metaphor is a paradox. Somewhere in it, you may be able to recognize a Truth.
I know that they’re the same thing. One is not separate from the other. It really is that simple. And if you don’t over think it, you’ll experience a deep resonance and a sense of peace.
If the drops of water and the ocean are the same thing, what happens when my 4-year-old daughter, Avaiya, scoops a pail full of water out of the ocean? No matter how far she carries that pail up the beach, that water is still part of the ocean and part of the billions of drops of water. You could say, the water in the pail is having an “experience” of being separate. If the water had a conscience I don’t think it would worry much about returning home.
Consider that humans are like the pail of water. We’re each having the experience of being separate from the ocean. We’re each one of billions of drops of water. Sometimes, we travel alone, as seen in raindrops, teardrops, and dew. But most often, we’re found in communities, like pails of water, puddles, ponds, rivers, and lakes.
I believe each of us is the raindrop and the ocean. Yes, it’s a paradox, but if you quit thinking about it, you have the opportunity to experience an enormous sense of peace and true power. You may also discover who is 100% responsible for you and everything you experience.
If you’re mind is thoroughly boggled now, have a Perrier and ask yourself, how much of ME is water?
Separation is an illusion. Have fun with it AND remember, you’re capable of everyTHING!
